'Fleeting Moments'
Oil on Canvas
20” x 24”
unframed
“Life moves pretty fast, if you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”*
Walking the children to school in the rain was never a fun task, but after having that option taken away from us during lockdown gave me whole new view of the school run.
One positive thing I gained during lockdown was an appreciation for everyday things that I used to take for granted and as I walked my children to school, battling with the rain, dodgy the oversized umbrellas of passersbys and trying not to let the children hit anyone in the head with theirs, I remembered that these moments and routines are fleeting and once they are gone, they are gone forever.
Next year my second child will also be missing from the picture, not wanting me to walk him to school, and all too soon my youngest child too. Then the school run will be over for me forever.
Now I admit as an artist I tend to idealise these little things as I can be very sentimental but my new outlook in life is to live in the present and enjoy the simple but beautiful moments, and I saw real everyday beauty and light in this moment!
